Airtame Hybrid Conferencing

Between September 2019 and August 2022, I served as the Lead Product Designer at Airtame Rooms. My team and I designed a brand new conferencing solution, aimed at organizations transitioning into a hybrid work environment.

As the Lead UX Designer for Airtame Rooms, I was responsible for the design efforts of an innovative in-room conferencing solution for organizations transitioning to hybrid work from a user perspective.

With a hands-on approach, I contributed to the product strategy, conducted research, and delivered conceptual artifacts in collaboration with the product team.

Our user-centric design and new technological advances now empower teams to connect and collaborate seamlessly in the hybrid work era.

Airtame’s core mission revolves around enabling seamless and high-quality content sharing without the constraints of cables or platform limitations.

By providing users with the capability to effortlessly share their screens with others, Airtame aims to empower individuals in navigating the demands of the modern work environment.

With the growing shift towards remote and hybrid workspaces, Airtame, recognized the need for a new solution to accommodate this new reality.

The project began with a comprehensive research phase, which involved 25+ on-site visits across Europe and the USA. We interviewed decision-makers, IT admins, hardware installers, office managers, super users, pro users, and novice users to gain a deep understanding of their current needs in a conferencing solutions and setup.

During this phase we identified several pain points that needed to be addressed in order to create a smoother meeting experience, including non-standardized room setups, difficult screen sharing, lack of onboarding and support, and reliance on tablets in meeting rooms.

Thru user feedback and insights, we were able to design a more meaningful solution that directly address a series of real user pain points.

While we aimed to introduce new technology, we remained committed to preserving the current ways of interacting with Airtame. Initially, we considered reusing the notification bar (The “Stimorol pack”), which at the time provided basic controls during streaming sessions. However, we soon learned that this approach would lead to though usability compromises, prompting us to explore alternative UI solutions.

We came up with a new design for the meeting facilitator, and we divided the screen into three sections: the bottom bar, the side section, and the content view. This allowed the in room participants to get updates and informations on the TV screen.

The Airtame Hub was the first conferencing solution that works with Microsoft Teams and Zoom to make every meeting room ideal for hybrid work.

Airtame Hub for hybrid conferencing was given the prestigious 2023 InfoComm Best of Show Awards, presented by Sound & Video Contractor and AV Technology, during the InfoComm event held in Orlando.

This recognition is given to products that have made a significant positive impact and garnered praise from both channel partners and end users, showcasing the remarkable impression Airtame Hub has left in the industry
